Agree. The wagon runs a shortened BW78, with 400hp at the crank. It lives on abuse. It snapped the original 28-spline axles, but I cannot kill the replacement 31-spline units.

Re: Blue Six induction

Some careful probing and thinking needed before drilling that metering block.

Re: SPARK PLUGS: NGK 4111 BP5HS

The geometry inside a grey depends a lot on the work done to it, but normally hard to hit a plug.

Turn the motor over by hand, using the fan belt. You’ll feel if they hit. Then crank it over with the starter, with the dizzy HT lead off. If all is well, fire it.

Re: Elle’s 1960 FB 225 mild custom

There are unplugged bung holes in the tops of both metering blocks. Car Parts Plus should have bungs if I need them.

Lead splitshot fishing sinkers, and some tappy tappy with a LFH.

I once had one of the Stromberg plugs come loose. Went to Carb Service Co to get some new ones. The gentleman ...

Re: Eddie

It would be fun racing in those classes :)

The photo of Moore’s Missile made me smile. John Brown took Number 1 Son for a lap around Merrylands backstreets in it one morning. Must have been in 2012, just before the Early Holden nationals in Bathurst. Little bugger still hasn’t stopped grinning like ...

My ute has been like that since 2010 when I first put it together
My wagon has the hose joiner too for the 60L tank, and the young bloke's VL has it as standard.

Re: SA All Holden Day 2025

Now that made me smile. It takes a different kind of person to own an old Holden. Many people would baulk at a 900km drive. Then there are those comfortable enough to take a 75 year old vehicle, black with 4-and-80 air, some form of engine complaint (and no cupholders  ) and make the ...

Re: Eddie

Hopefully the fronts are grabby and not the rears.

Could be the difference in bore size. HR front drum slaves are 1.06" bore. FB/EK are 1.1875".

Does it still grab if the booster vacuum line is disconnected and plugged?

From memory, when the power brakes first came out there was a warning sticker ...
