Re: Harv's FED thread

Harv can’t make Temora… away for work 😞

Timing cover tight, balancer home and ring installed, lower huffer pulley, crank turner-er on and timing tab made up:

The pulley looks waaaaay too wide, but I can always cut it back and run a narrower belt. Will see what I ...

Re: Steel timing gear for a EK grey motor

I’ve never heard of a Master Engineering steel set let go. I have heard of the steel centre tearing out of some of the alloy ones.

Re: harvs ek 327 wagon

VRD do great work. Dave rebuilt the dizzy in Graces Ute when it was eating rotor buttons, and supplied the o-rings and tapered gear pins when I had that pile of magnetos converted to grey motor. He is good people.

Re: Harv's FED thread

Flexplate showed up (overnight courier - impressed)… but Murphy must have been involved in the warehouse… it’s to suit Holden V8’s with Traumatic or TH, not red 6 slushbox. On its way back, and the correct one on its way to me.

Bolt holes were undersized (need to be 7/16UNF to match the crank and converter), so drilled them out. Due to the shed demolition the drill press is inside the house… made some super stealth moves whilst trying not to be ...

Re: Harv's FED thread

Got the shed mostly packed up. I wanted to get the EKMart engine into the FED before the carport is demolished, and I lose my overhead lifting beam.

Chrome sump on:

Re: Grey motor Stromberg carburettor(s)

I’m pretty confident there is a pair left over… I found a few more during the shed clean-out. They breed like rabbits. It could be the end of the year though before the shed is done and I am back functional again.

Re: Grey motor Stromberg carburettor(s)

G'day John and Steve,

Normally the BXOV-1 (grey motor) throttle bodies are run on twin carb manifolds.

I've still got some grey carbs left, but unfortunately they are packed away. I'm getting ready for a shed demolish and rebuild, and have spent the last week packing gear away under the house ...

Started cleaning up the EK Mart upper tailgate, can’t believe how thick the red oxide is, I thought it was thick on the roof, it’s a wonder these things ever rusted al all

The extra red oxide that they put on the upper tailgates was saved from the lower tailgates ...

Re: Harv's FED thread

Back home, so some more progress on the FED engine.

Took it off the engine stand and painted the rear of the block, where the bellhousing connects. A little fussy perhaps, but should make it tidier.

Oil pump on. I had rebuilt the pump with new gears, then sent it to Galloway for a tweak.

Flow ...

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan

Quick test fit.

Is it too low?

Need the diff and wheels on, and three fat mates in the back to check. Piece of string under a rear tyre, then lift it upwards from the back of the car. If the string hits the tank before the body, then too low. Can always pack it upwards, especially if the ...

The RB30 TPS’s are notoriously unreliable. When they fail, the car runs, but erratic as hell.

Don’t ask me how I know 😖

Not off to a good start, I unpacked the big box of rubbers that I have stored away in a tin trunk at the back of the shed and found that Rares have sent out four left front outer door rubbers and a panel van rear tailgate glass rubber. One step forward, two back- again. Regards Daz.

I’d prescribe rum for that condition. If it doesn’t kill the virus, at least the hangover will be unnoticed.
