I sold that boat to a guy in SA who also collected vintage petrol bowsers.
It recently was sold to another guy who ski races.

These boats arent that hard to get. You need to find one that someone hasnt butchered up with fiberglass etc.

They are out there from as little as $500 for a project. They are a a lot of work but dont cost nearly as much to do as a car. There is heaps less to buy (rubber kits, chroming etc).
Most of what you need you can get in a hardware store.

Restored or good original boats start at about $10000.

I know of a mint 14 ft grey powered skiff (rear seat raceboat) for $15000 if anyone is serious.

If anyone is looking for one I can point you in the right direction. Dave 0413766501

One that might fit the bill...

Just a straightforward engine 'upgrade'

i have a hartley ply cablin cruiser, 18.5 ft, it was a nice old boat, 4 berth, lock up cabin with a roof over the cockpit area.
while i was rebuilding my car it was neglected and rot set in everywhere, it has a 132 with a dog clutch, stainless bow rail and swim ladder.
i am thinking of selling it if anyone is good with woodwork.
being a big wide tall boat its a bit heavy, grey motor just chugs along.

If anyone is interested. There is a vintage raceboat reggatta at Forster (Pipers creek near forster quays). They also have a cars sho there so you couls show off your car. There will be a few grey powered racers there also. Im running my methanol injected 144 Falcon powered Lewis skiff named Renegade.
