Just did my own :D , I'm not saying it will be a show job but it wasn't hard to do at all. This is what I did (refer to cruisin on ch 31).
1; Open up all cracks down to the steal with a dremal type of tool with a grinding stone attatchment.
2; Drill holes diagonally into the cuts, for the filler to key into.
3; I used a product called "Kneed it", it's a two part filler that sets hard as a rock in about 30 minutes.
Follow the instructions on the pack.
4; Press it into the grooves so that it goes into the holes aswell, so that it is also a bit proud of the serface.
5; When hard, sand to the original shape of the wheel and viola, Done.
6; Paint it any color you want.

Like I said not hard at all, Trev 8).

Hi Trev
What type of paint did you use on the wheel :?:
Is it a plastic paint or standard spray paint :?:

Someone said to me recently to use engine enamel as its more durable but haven't done a steering wheel resto nor painted one so can't confirm it myself.

Yeah I've done a few in the last year or so.

With the cracks, open em up real big with some coarse sandpaper. Then I use Kahfill (fibreglass bog) and once have that all in shape, hi fill primer...a few coats, sand and paint... if you want something a bit fancy maybe take it to a panel beater/rod shop....

How do you remove the centre cover emblem on the FB...i don't want to destroy it to get it off and i cant find concealed screws anywhere. Also, do you need a gear puller type contraption to get the steering wheel off once the centre nut is removed?

The centre cover is a press fit, just carefully prise it off with something like a screw driver, some steering wheels are hard to get off so a puller is the best way to remove them without wrecking the wheel :D , Trev 8) .

my steering wheel came off no dramas at all. disconnect the horn wire then prise off the horn button as trev said, then theres a couple of screws washers spacers etc to remove the horn ring, horn contact and spring and anything else on there and then take off the steering wheel. easy as that

Hey Trev,

How wide are you supposed to open the cracks to.I assume they need to be fairly wide to drill the keyholes?

I did them about 10 to 15mm wide, wide enough to get the filler all the way in, Trev 8) .
