fire wall , both sides match also // the sub frame is not orginal look at her she has some work done on her in the early 90's going by the date painted on kick panel wall .. 9/91

The ususal guard rust and guess what the right side is not matching in good nick ..

I just cut section from the donor part as i didnt have the full sills to replace but as the girl sits on a hadfield chassis im sure that will take a lot of the load .

Hey Dave,

Mate your doing a great job, keep it up and keep the pictures coming, everyone likes pictures.
Looking at your car  make me feel very lucky, as my sedan when I got it from a wrecking yard had stuff all rust saving me a lot of extra work.
Also love the side flash.
You can't beat having a donor car to steal from.

Keep up the good work.
Cheers

yeah the flash kits is rather different and will be going back on for sure .. am thinking doing a paint scheme filling in the space btw the flash with a cream colour running up to the roof .. and the body candy apple red so my daughter tells me, i was thinking a soft yellow .. but who am i to agrue with my daughter ..

Mel your car is amazing i was thinking that your will be stripping it for painting so whilst its in the shop u could start a convertable .. that way i can see how it should be done :)

Karsten yeah i have a mig (loaner) but im not to happy with the results using gas less wire can be very messy finish .. i must prefer my henrob but thats slow going .. sp maybe i need to get some agron for the mig just not sure which way to go just yet.

sills etc

Postby ekdave1962 » Thu Dec 06, 2007 12:38 pm

ok guys heres a few more pics . i welded the holes in fire wall and etch coated the sills and part of floor .. looks like i will be going with gloss floors and apply sound deadner to insides so a quick inspection will alert me to any future problems

New floor welded and a little filler to make it look pretty
Image

a pic ot the sill partial replacement u can see the seam where i oxy welded it in .. a little filler and she will be sweet . did this sill in 3 part replacement section .. the tight side im going to weld the whole piece in 1. i think
Image

and last pic for a week back to work tomorrow .. i work a little like mel 4 on 5 off

this repair of the axe holes in fire wall (see pic in early post ).. have not decided if ill weld the big man hole up or fit a screw on panel .. someone cut the hole for a reason ?

Image

Just waiting for the filler to set on sills .. and a sand and prime ,,

Lots of the wrecks I see have a hole there- I think its for replacing the welsh plug in the back of a grey motor without removing the head.
If it was my car I would weld it up.
