Harko, reading through this thread again, I just have one question... Did you ever finish the Beetle?

The heater channel/sills in the beetle needed replacing and we couldn't find new ones at the time .
Also its my wifes car and she didn't end up getting her licence .
Room was at a premium at our old house and I was building the 308 for the monaro so the beetle was sidelined ,dissapointed my wife wouldn't get hero Ps and taking into account that when she did it changed to a 3 year licence and she can't drive a modified.
So I finished the monaro and sold it , I also put a v8 in an fe for a mate then upgraded the driveline in my fb to the red motor turbo 700.
It got sold unexpectedly and I was only starting on the chassis under both my chopped ute and kustom fc nomad ,but id also bought a 27 chev roadster pickup and the bonneville and put a big deck on the house soo room was running out.
This house popped up so we moved house ,big job .
We've been here 6 years and with renovating ,building the saloon and stage and havving 2 jobs that barely àllowed me any time at home at all yôu can understand the beetle is still sidelined.
My wife got hero licence and will be on hero blacks by

sorry the ipad chucked a spaz.

She will have hero licence in may and with all the welding I've done on the ek coupe the beetle sills don't seem a challenge any more so stay tuned .
I've been sorting the windows on the coupe and ride height wheel and tyre combo.
Also put a 6 speed manual in the ute .

Let me just start by saying that I am typing her and the computer corrects it to hero ,then trying to hilight the error on screen is near imposible .
But very little to see searsy.
Its a prick of a job with a fair bit of guess work .

I am still a little freaked out because the position of the side windows butting together is critical to the whole look of the car , If I move it 10mm either way it looks wrong and as it sits now the rear of the front window is a little too far forward but I think I can smooth it over by putting a little stainless trim in ther to visually thicken where they join.

Im going to run steelies on the ute and leave the body as is.
ride height can be very low and Im considering shortening the sills below the swage to gain the extra 2 inches or so

Is that going to be a scoop on the bonnet in the 4th picture or is something just lying there ,as I am interested in a scoop on mine but haven't found anything that suits I think I will need more air flow around the V8

Take a bid from the more modern day cars and have some wide rubber between the chrome and overlap it to appear to be level

Disagree. B pillar needs to be parallel with the A pillar (& door jamb lines). IMHO.

I think jase means put the fb c pillar trim back in ,I've always planned to have a small curved return there so its not a sharp angle but the curve will go from the quarter/old door to the roof .

And I was thinking to gradually curve the door gap to meet up with the window join , a lot of pillarless cars are like this to allow room for the door latch. .

Yeah billy its a scoop style I'm considering.

You know my father does louvres if you want his number
