Hi brains trust
Tried to open Franks bonnet this morning and can’t get it to lift, bonnet is fully closed, looking from underneath looks like it is moving but won’t open.
I know how to get an FC one to open but can’t see how to get Franks to lift "angryy: any help greatly appreciated

The bonnet lock, if fitted, can stick out a poofteenth and hold the lock.

The catch can get a groove in its arced surface that can stop the catch moving.

Jiggling the bonnet up, down and every which way but loose can sometimes help.

You can pull the bumper, indicators and grille to get access to undo the lock. This is awesome fun on white concrete on a 43C day… don’t ask me how I know.

Cheers,
Harv

I noticed that I made a mistake with the subject I should have said Bonnet Catch.

Thanks Harv I was hoping that wasn’t the answer I was going to get.

Mine used to catch due to a notch worn in the flat tongue part of the catch. I can reach under the bonnet bar and feel the latch, squeeze open slightly and it would open. FB may be a bit easier than EK. I replaced the latch and doesn't do it any more but was good anti theft device.

Ok I ended up having a win without having to pull the whole front off as Harv suggested I may have to do.
both Harv and Clay were correct with the assumption that there was a groove in the safety catch part of the bonnet release and it wouldn't slide back to allow the bonnet to open.
It was obvious once I got it open.

To get the bonnet open without removing the grill, agree with Clay that if it was an FB it would be easier to get your hand through the grill to push the safety in while lifting the bonnet release but with the EK grill being narrower I bent up a bit of tube and was able to push in while lifting the latch.

Smoothed the groove out with my little belt sander and now opening again nicely.
