I recently purchased one of those Milwaukee 12V cordless soldering irons. Best tool I've got in the last few years.

I think it’s all been well covered Harv. Agree entirely with Blacky - from my experience doing a shit load of wiring in my boat recently you really need a higher watt iron, and I am sure flux will help. I also bought one of those proper crimping tools - was so much easier and you get great results too.

Another thing. One of my mates is an auto sparky. He has done some work in my EJ over the years and every time he struggles to get good solder joins. Something about that old gauge wire…if he can’t, then that says something!
