Made it to Esperance, bought a new radiator cap , can you believe there were none at any of the roadhouses along the way , and made camp with a bourbon to finish the day off ImageImage

Sounds like a fairly smooth trip,

I guess that old Ute shouldn’t rust any more out there…….. So was the Ute high running temperature down to the dicky radiator cap?

Hope the long trip hasn't caused some kind of internal problem & is only the cap.
A well done to all the long distance travelers  .

Will find out tomorrow when we do the last leg - Esperance to home , around 700km. Found the bottom hose was very soft and the spring had rotted away so bought a new lower hose , reverse flushed it and installed the new thermostat plus bodgied up an overflow

Had a lazy last couple of hours playing with the new page for next years not the nationals plus I worked out our fuel economy for the last week or so - 1510 miles , 259.75 litres equals 26.39 miles per gallon or 10.95 litres per 100km.

Great diary mate.
I hope the trailer queens read this and discover they are missing on so much by not driving to and from the nats.

Our only real stops were Dumbleyung where Donald Campbell set a world record on water years ago , pretty much the towns only claim to fame
