Engine Bay Electric Wiring

Post by Apex »

G'day all
Hoping at least someone can help me as electrics was never my best subject.
I've discovered that after my car was rewired there was one original wire left and that runs from the negative (-) coil to the outside of the distributor body. On a wiring diagram I found it's shown as '16 GA Black'. Does this sound right, and what would I ask for when I go to Repco or wherever I can buy a metre of wire these days? I'd be very grateful for any help.
Thanks and regards Apex. :problem: :econfused:

Hi Apex

Yes that wire runs from coil to dizzy. Wire is shown as 14/0.012 16GA in manual. That translates to 14 stranded wire each strand being 0.012 inches or 16 gauge.

I would just grab a 5metre roll of 10 amp cable in black from your local auto store. That should do it.

Hullo Stephen
Thanks very much for your reply, and for the explanation of what the various numbers mean. Yes, I'll get some 10-amp cable.
