When we got out north of Oodla Wirra was very nice. Long straight roads and stormy vistas. Crisp dense air You want to put the hammer down. Wish they wouldn't make me go in front. Can't resist it.

Takes me back travelling through the hill. Stayed at Mario's Palace in 1985 with Elle. Wish she was here.

Clear skies, tail wind, 4 degrees. Broken Hill was kind to me last night. Swag and stout intact under the tonneau cover. Lenny's car "The Frog" in background.ImageImage

Oh Wow - that Dipstick moment must have given you some heartburn Clay - Glad you found a work around - I'm sure the guys can assist with a bit of re-wiring to get you starting again - was there just not enough bend in the stick?

Hope the sleeping bag is a good one - Brrrrr.

Yer it’s all good Rob. Had the aircon on flat out all night with extra blankets and thermal tee shirt. And was just warm enough.

Luckily brought the bible.Image
I wonder if there is a forum member anywhere between say Bourke and Moree could lend some workshop floor. Just need to replace coil to ignition and maybe back to regulator from there.

Anyway 600km to Bourke can be done on the current rig if need be.

I can loan you a workshop and Holden bits near Tamworth, but that would probably be too far south for the run you are doing.

Call the tourist info centre at Bourke about auto electricians - if you mention you're driving a classic, nothing is too much trouble . . .

I raised the ignition wire in Wilma's post. As I see it there is no fuse on that circuit (only after it goes to fuse block and splits to the other fused circuits) and every harness I had showed melted/ damaged ignition feed wire. Feed comes off battery terminal on starter and I am thinking that's the place to put an inline fuse to protect harness.

Roger in a hurry. Roadworks. Made Cobar 2:30pm SA time. 5 1/2 hours 460km. Speedo cable has parted from the dash and can hear it ticking over under there. Jumped out of top gear. Did this on overrun the other day but this was under throttle.

Drizzling rain, 160km to go. No car had wipers now as my feed must have hone on yesterday's bbq.ImageImageImage

Rainx on the windscreen worked a treat last time I used it. I only ever remember I need to reapply when it’s actually raining. Last time I did it was about 7 years ago….

Wipers are highly over rated in daylight. Specially on FB EK. Wax polish works just as well as rainex.

Bourke via Cobar. Cars are in compound behind pub where we are staying. Dogs released 9pm. Don't go out there.ImageImageImage
