So first things first. Take notes. Don’t remember what I was on about with the vacuum stuff but the firing order is right. I think!

Electronic distributor luring in there, Stromberg carb removed.

Bonnet off. Rocker cover too. Water pump was in flakey pieces. Should have drained it. Easy to get a new one. Engine only had about 10000K's on it after a reco so that was pretty lazy on my part

Unbolt the drive shaft, cut the exhaust (all welded), and it’s time to get the gumtree hoist into action

Thanks for the pics.

Also looks like its an EK that someone has tried to improve the looks of by fitting FB bits to  - very common amongst EK owners
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

142635 works if you count them backwards in a loop if that makes you feel better

The front is an FB ute, and the back is an EK. So I get the simplicity of the FB chrome work up front, including rusted out bonnet trim.

Advantage of hoist. Lower car when engine won't go any higher.

So plan of attack.
Repair any rust and paint under the car. I think I can do the stuff that no one will ever see.
Tidy up the body work as much as possible, remove any bog, and send her off for some staightening and a respray.
Engine rebuild, think the gearbox is fine but will get a once over as its all out.
Overhaul brakes (were pulling to the left quite badly, new wheel bearings and replace all rubbers (both mechanical and body).
New pinion seal in the diff which is leaking and has added to the fine mist of rust protection from a leak somewhere up front.
This becomes job # 1 as with the diff out its much easy for my son Cooper to get under the car and start cleaning all the gunge off things. He was doing Duke of Ed at the time and this was his "Hobby".

Diff out.
Notice the OzChev sticker on the rear door. Had the car 3 years clueless and its my Dad who's looking at the car for the first time and goes "Who's OzChev"
EDIT Gaps on the back door look right - but the trims not lining up. Must remember to fix that.
