Air cleaners

Post by Brett027 »

I have two air- cleaners which I think are off FBs. One has a rounded air horn snout and the other has a ridge each side. The bases are the same. Was there a change made or is the ridged one off a later model?

If the air cleaners have a slotted-head clamp screw to hold them on the carburettor, you can be pretty certain they're FB/EK. The later model air cleaners have a T-handle clamp screw.

(The later air cleaners also sit down lower on the carburettor than the FB/EK ones, but that's only noticeable if you do a side-by-side comparo.)

Ah thanks Rob. I will have to check the handles.

Rounded snout and a sort of shoulder arrangement where the snout joins the body? In that case that's HQ/LJ onwards (I think).
