FB THERMO SWITCH REPLACEMENT

Post by ferdi »

I need to replace the thermo switch on my 1960 FB Special. Ive seen switches advertised on eBay (Tridon Engine Temp Switch TTS033), which claim they're suitable for the FB, but Im a tad dubious. Any feedback from others who have installed the Tridon switch or any other suggestions gratefully received. Many thanks.

The TTS033 switch works on grey motors (½-14NPT thread). I run these senders. The TTS033 is set a little higher (125ºC) than the original early Holden switches (103ºC). It is the only temperature sender that Tridon makes with a ½-14NPT thread.

If you want to get closer to the original 103ºC setting using a Tridon sender, then you will need to adapt the thread. The TTS513 and TTS516 units are set at 100ºC, and have M10x1.0 and M14x1.5 threads respectively. The TTS521 is set at 107ºC, and has M16x1.5 thread.

Cheers,
