When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Better get some thicker carpet then ImageImageImage

Another night in the shed - the fact that the gearstick was offset was messing with my CDO so I set to fixing it .
Took the stick off and made an adapter piece to shift it over the required amount , started with a bit of 75x75x8 angle and cut a bit off
Image
Then drilled it out and made it fit
Image
Rough enough - you won’t see it once it’s all together ImageImage
Image

Went to fit it up , gave meself an uppercut and made another one - forgot that the top needs to be drilled and tapped not clearance holes ImageImageImageImageImage

Dickhead ……..

Fitted the new one to the shifter handle and bolted it up to the gearbox

Now it sits in the centre where it should be , finished the night off with sussing out how to mount the thing without having visible screws then went inside for a rum Image

I would have spent at least 20 minutes wondering if I could bodgy up that top hole with a Helicoil before I spent 10 minutes drilling another bit of iron.

dont worry, i had similar thoughts  the fact that all the bits were still on the bench ready to go made the decision a bit easier

Made a start - using aerosol trim glue , squirt and stick

Sides were easy with the foam, will see how we go with the vinyl…..
Did the faces then it was time to have lunch and let the glue go off for a while

Only 20mins? I spend an hours thinking my way into a 10 minute fix. No wonder I don’t go anywhere but my shed 🤪

Cool as Blacky and don’t worry Drew my workshop is my happy place, after years spent in ships engine rooms with ear muffs on I really happy in my own head.
