Morris Maximus

Post by Blacky »

OK - after the Nationals was over I got bored so the voices in my head and I decided to build a car for our annual " Farkan Darkan " event which is a combined club day at the now defunct Darkan speedway Image

Morris Maximus is the same Morry we took down last time but a bit spruced up - the Morris running gear has gone and it now sports a narrowed and kicked up in the rear Austin A40 chassis with a Gemini front end , narrowed Chev diff , a 202 and Trimatic ImageImage

With motor and box fitted

Body on - we just kept cutting bits off until it fit ImageImage

We are off tomorrow to Darkan so standby for more pics ImageImage

Love the rear wheels not to mention my favourite drive train, the Morris body and chop and the wing. What about those Tasmans on the front??

that looks like a lot of fun. Could you post a link to the event? Curious to know what it’s all about...

Is a closed event mate, invite only so not advertised anywhere , although the first one made it into Cruisin magazine a few years back , heres an interesting link to the history of the speedway , including the demise of an FB

You're not wrong there mate.
They hate it as I don't own any bow ties!!

It seems that is what "needs" to be worn to any event.

They cringe when I get out of the car in thongs!!! :evilll:

A mate of mine put an LS1 in a Porsche 944 , he reckoned he was going to paint it camo , lift it and put mud tyres on it and mount a spotlight on the roof - then take it to a Porsche day

There is a silver injected V8 928 that frequently comes out to play at the Eastern Creek drags. The owner hammers the snot out of it... makes the bogan in me giggle every time  .

Harv,
A work mate of mine frequents Eastern Creek Drags.

He has a red XY GT replica. He nearly put it into the wall last weekend due to a split coolant hose.
Its a sub 10 second car.

My wife has driven the Shadow around Eastern Creek on the Shannon's days we frequent with the club.

Ric.
