Best Gearbox oil ?

Post by Finny »

Wonder what people find to be the best gearbox oil, for an original 3 speed EK manual gearbox.
I assume that the original spec is not available anymore ?

Hypoid gear oil 80w90 is still readily available. Has an unmistakable smell which I love.

Taught Number 1 Son a few years back how to change gearbox oil with the 80W90 Hypoid. He now refers to it as Liquid Ass

GLI-4 oil only. Not GLI-5 as is most the case with diff oils. GLI-5 isn't the best for brass components such as synchro rings that are subject to shearing forces.
