Fitting task for a Friday arvo measure up rims:
HR passenger rims is the later style 13" with the hole. The one misnomered to be the HR disc brake rim. Wish I could find my 6" steel rule.

Back space 85mm
Front space 58mm
Flange flange 143mm
Bead width 114mm
0ffset +13mm

Only difference to HD / HR commercial is that they are +18mm or 90mm backspace.ImageImageImage

FE EH are 90mm same as the HD no hole rim, however the centre was changed to suit the revised brake drum profile on the HD HR models, as well as carryover EH commercial models, which continued production after I production of the HD. GMH would have been stockpiling the new brakes in anticipation of the release and having to balance supply for the end of the EH run. When you follow development there tends to be a single significant technical upgrade with each model release with the focus on styling change. It all changed when the xk and Val came along. They were really taking the punters for a ride but the result was to be the huge appeal of the older models now. I digress.

Photos of the spare from my September 62 EK panel van, ex ETSA line vehicle. Commercial models on the FB and EK at least had riveted centres.ImageImage

Centre bores are 63.5mm 2 1\2".

Obviously you want four rims with the same offset so with the later rims make sure you have a matching set.

As far as the commercial rims in happy enough to mix and match. I suppose if you want to be totally authentic but these days you may be lucky to get 4 good original rims.

The other thing to note is that the HD HR rims all make the hub caps stick out further, by virtue of having to clear the wider brake drums no doubt. This can look wrong.

HT has the same pcd as earlies @ 4.25" and 63.5mm centre bore.
Back space 106mm but they fit the kingpin front just by virtue of them being 14" diameter. The rim edge barely clears the top control arm front on lock due to it being a half inch radially out from the hub. The outer tie rod end grease cap also just clears.

Rim width 5" nominal or 127mm
Total width 152mm
Offset +31mm
You need to widen these if you want to maintain track but a good way to fill the guards and get more clearance for lowering

Who can measure some HK which are different again.

Awesome job Clay - thanks for taking the time to measure up, photo and post.

According to the MasteroldFarts Dogolue:

FX/FJ wheels are 7410394
FE through EH wheels (except EK/EJ/EH panel vans and utilities) are 7408888
EK-EH panel van and utility wheels are 7414194
EH utilities and panel vans could also have part number 7423700 if they had 2.25" brakes (the 7414194 wheels suit the 1 3/4" brakes)
HD sedan and wagon wheels are 7423241
HR sedans and wagon wheels are 7431265
HD and HR wagon wheels are 7423700
HD and HR heavy duty wheels are 742868

13" Sampson Magnum alloys. Based on the flange-to-flange I suspect these are 7.5", but can't get at the bead width to measure. Could be 7". No stampings on outside of rim (perhaps some under the tyre). Running 205/60/13 tyres (what the old man would have referred to as "aircraft landing wheels" ).

Back spacing: 4 5/8" (117mm)
Front spacing: 3 3/8" (86mm)
Offset +5/8" (+16mm)
Flange to Flange: 8" (203mm)
Centre bore: 2 11/16" (68mm)
Flat seat wheel nuts (no taper)

Centre caps are push-in, though have been drilled out to accept the later 5-screw type caps.

... need to hide these again before Grace finds them.

They won’t fit on kingpin or balljoint front with that backspace but would tuck under nicely on the rear. I’ve got a matching pair of 6” with similar backspace and I believe a Roger has also.

Plan for these ones is to fit onto the FB for the meth monster project. Rear is just a standard FB/EK LSD banjo, so should be OK. The fronts are going to be a crapshoot... not sure if they will fit or not (knowing my luck, not). Keeping the kingpin front end, and using CRS adapters to fit up HZ calipers. Rotors are a two-piece deal, with the centre custom cast by Hoppers Stoppers similar to a P76 hub. Rotors are Mitzi, cut-down to 266mm (whopper stoppers). I want to keep 13" rims if I can, and Hoppers are (fairly) confident that the Magnums will clear... just.

The bit that will be painful will be the backspace - with all that change, I can't predict where the wheel hub is going to end up. Bit of trial an error. Might have to search for a front pair of Magnums with less dish, but am about a year or so away from being ready to check.

Harv

Well rog and I each have pairs of 6x13 4 3/16" backspace (106mm) sure you are welcome to either. Freight not too bad by sendle if you want mine. The HQ hubs will have more offset so backspace shouldn't be a problem.

Many thanks - if you are happy to part with the pair, I'll grab them please. Let me know what I owe you, and we can organise some freight.

Happy to donate them to the cause Harv. I will organise freight through sendle if you like and you can pay for that.

The “J” or “JJ” part refers to the rim bead profile (not the tyre speed rating). There are a lot of different profiles (J, JJ, K, JK, B, P, D etc).

Interesting too that early Holden stud pattern is not 4.25" PCD... it's 4.24".
