Wow....... but what does the code mean next to 'TOP'?

Is that a 'Holden' plate frame or one from the dealer?

Plate ID as follows. Taken from the EK Factory Workshop Manual.

Body: The body ID No is a combination of the model No and body serial No with a suffix letter which signifies the plant at which the body was manufactured: A- Adelaide, M- Melbourne, S- Sydney, NZ- New Zealand. On left hand Drive vehicles the letters L.D are added.

Trim: The trim No's represent the paint colour and trim combination.

Paint: The paint No's represent exterior paint material and colour ID of the basic or lower colour.

Insert: The paint No's represent exterior paint material and colourt ID of the intermediate colour when 3 section colour styling is used.

Top: The top No's represent exterior paint material and colour ID of the roof or upper section of the body when it differs from the basic colour.

Yeh I know, though with some wacky cars they put a number in the Top section? This one is all white!

Yes - Certain Hydros (not all production) had it here. Dr Terry was talking about sighting some docs in the archives that listed the accessory PO nos for standard ute and van, but I still go by the fact that you have one very very rare car there Steve. I'd guess that the car is probably the only 215 Hydro in existence.

Hi Tim.

PO 478A is the production option number for the Hydra-Matic auto trans in an EK Special sedan.

I've found 3 different ID codes for the EK Hydra, some have 225A as the body number while some have 225H, but the most common is 478A on the TOP or INSERT lines.

Dr Terry

Knew I had spotted it somewhere!

In the early days I thought that number was related to side accessory flashes, as nearly every car I had with a flash had those numbers.

Can someone tell me why Holden used the stainless metal trim around the front screen and painted it the same body colour, but deleted it on the rear windows, on the standard models.
There was no logic in there thinking on that one, in my opinion :?
