Yes. Now have to decide whether to go all synchro and get column shift modified at the same time.

I’d not mind the lack of synchro on first really, more the strength issue.

If I ever modified mine to that extent - not planning on doing anything to that ute that cant be undone without welding etc - I wouldn't piss around with a later 3 speed box , I would go a 5 speed - transforms the car. The red rattler has a 5 speed in it

Don't want to transform the car Blacky. Want to keep it on the column. 3sp all at synchro are pretty strong box, stronger than M20 4spd.

What about a EH red motor box ????

Still no synchro in first but will handle the red somewhat better.

Not much stronger if any Greg and still require some floor mods, albeit relatively minor. A lot of people used to fit the all synchro three speeds to their EHs with floor shift.

A bloke over here - a very clever bloke - put a 5 speed in an EK and kept the column shift - I think he adapted a jap van column from a 4 speed column shift to a 5 speed.
