Can anyone recommend FB paint

Post by Joe_FBHolden »

Hi, I'm currently attempting to fix up a daily driver set of FB hubcap centre caps. I'm a bit stuck on what type of black paint to use? Where's the best place to buy it? I understand satin black is used but tried using my sample pot of acrylic black but no good.

Here's a pic of the final product, two coats of gloss black and careful marking and drilling of my daily driver hubcaps here it is.

Look really good, can you tell me what the powdercoater charged per rim?

I have a quote locally of around$140 sandblasted and powder coated, which I think is to dear.

Hey Matt, sandblasting the rims were around $150 for a set of four and the powder coating was around the same price $150-$160. Both done at separate premises. So around $300 all up. I'm happy with the result as the rims were pretty bad to start with

Thanks, I'm finding it hard to find a set of rims for my FB. A guy dropped me three off the other day but they are very rusty.

Was going to buy a set of new Rares ones but the hub caps falling off thing puts me off.

But yours turned out great.

Thanks Matt, if I see any rims in good condition going for cheap I'll let you know. I'm in Canberra by the way but travel to Sydney about once a fortnight if it helps
