Some of you may have seen this on Face Book but if you havent here are some details. https://www.stickytickets.com.au/35398/freo_1960.aspx
______________________________________________________________________________________
An opportunity for car enthusiasts to showcase their pride and joy in a rare timeless street-scape. We've got permission to fill High Street in the historic West End with classic cars, motorbikes and push-bikes that are pre-1970.

Car spaces are limited to 50 at this stage, so make sure you get in quick.

Please ensure your ride is pre-1970 and not too modified as we're trying to create a 1960's street-scape.

Here's the idea:

Wander down High Street in Fremantles historic West End as if it was 1960 again. With the the timeless arcitechure of the West End, and a street lined with classic cars and motorbikes from the 60's, this will be a real nostalgic treat for anyone who fancies a trip back in time. Non-modifed orginal cars and motorbikes will be parked in respective car bays as if it were a regular day in 1960. Car owners and visitors will be encouraged to dress in theme. Great opportunity for photographers and models looking for a 60's backdrop.

I had a good think about this one, it's a great idea and I'll probably pop in to check it out.

However, I've recently turned 24, now that I'm older I'm becoming a cranky old man I'm getting a little fussy about what I pay for in regards to car shows. Happy to pay to put my car in the Hot Rod Show in Claremont, and I don't mind the $5 - $10 donations for a local show to put towards a charity. But after paying $60 at Big Al's Poker Run this year just to go on a cruise which I already do every weekend I realise its becoming less worth it. $35 to park on a street in Freo seems a little steep to me. I'd happily be paid $35 to put on a show though :half:

I know where you are coming from Jay . Already being a cranky old fart , when I went to Big Als , I drove in to the tent , the bloke came up for his $60 and I nearly choked . Told him to stick his show and shine , turned around and drove out . I would love to know how much reaches charity . I do realize that there are considerable costs involved in organizing a show like that and a shit load of effort and time by all concerned and I take my hat off to all those involved BUT $60 ????
