When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Me thinks that fool apprentice neglected to tighten the hose fitting. It's like an 80s disco in there, what with the pretty blue fluid. Clutch and brakes all bled up now.
Cranked with plugs out for about 10 seconds and oil pressure came up to 33.5psi.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Yes! All seems about good. There was some valve bounce around 4000 due to the soft springs. Clutch was starting to present a slight judder, but it works beautifully otherwise. Brakes were terrible until I stood on them hard, and something went pop. They were hard as a rock but now pulling up easily. There still may be some stiffness in the initial application, which I will keep an eye on. I didn't open the VH40 hydraulics up since I took it off the old sedan years ago, but I took off the diaphragm and worked the piston shaft in snd out as it was siezed. These things remain a mystery to me.Bumped the idle down to 800. Static timing was about 5 degrees retarded so set to 7 advanced. I noticed the timing varying about 2 degrees, repeatedly retarding every few fires. I noticed some play between the rotor and shaft when I set it statically. I can't imagine what else might cause this unless it is an issue in the gun.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Clay,
It won't be a problem with the timing light. More likely is that at 800 rpm, your centrifugal advance is beginning to operate, which will modulate your ignition timing as engine speed varies. By the way, are you using vacuum advance? If so, disconnect it, and recheck your timing at idle.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I disconnected the vacuum advance when I observed the variation Rob. If it is centrifugal then I’ve set base at 5 degrees instead of 7, so not a big deal. I will send one of my electronic dissys away to get regraphed eventullly.

I changed the oil and cut open the filter. There seem to be dozens of silver specs up to 0.01" diameter but flat. The interior is all back in place but still pretty raucous in the cab at 100kmh.

How come the floor mat is over the kick panels ??????

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
So the throttle lever doesn’t get stuck under the kick panel when I floor it. I’ve had a few scary episodes lately. I seem to recall a wee tin tab that holds the front edge of the kick board but mine are missing. Also I’ve mucked around tucking it under so many times that the boards are getting a bit tatty.
