EK 225 = EK Special sedan,
2925th body built at
S = Sydney.
Trim 543-964 = Grenadier Red and Athens Grey
Paint 585-0246 = Snowcrest White (No sure, but looks like it was a completely white car as there is no second paint code)
PO.478.A = Hydramatic transmission.
Pics!!

Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
Hi there thx for the info u were spot on as I thought it was a factory auto but wasn't sure also u were right about the trim as it has been sprayed with black vinyl paint at some stage of its life an I looked at it today an noticed in the corner of the seams it had red an grey vinyl as per the original material
Also it copped a yellow respray as well as it's got a 202/trimatic/hr front end
Not a bad starting point for a full custom resto with rust in all the usual places but give it a bit of tlc
an the old girl will look half decent again
Thx a lot regards v8ratrod

Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
Happy to help
Looks like a good car to start with. What are your plans?
Can you tell us anything about the history of the car and how you came by it?

Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
G,day mate I scored the car off a bloke who was a towie an he told me it was to rusty an was only good for parts so when he
brought it round I was goin to cut it up for a lounge with out seeing it but when I did see it I thought this thing is still pretty good concidering it's age so decided to keep it coz there kool as there's no point wasting a good car
I've contacted an engineer coz I'm goin to chop the roof an two door it as I've been collecting parts for a while but only
recently decided to ditch the 6 for a inj 5ltr
Rust wise it's the usual floor pans/sills/bottoms of front guards/doors but nothing to serious but it needs a full resto as it's
far from road worthy so I hope to keep u all informed with the build when I'm ready to start it in the new yr as I'm a bit committed with a recent relocation
It's also very good to c what everyone else is up to on here as it's always a good read with lots of good ideas

Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
Awesome; always nice to hear that a car is getting saved
When you're able, could you please post the chassis number (stamped into driver's side inner guard), and also the engine number (near the oil-pressure sender)?
Keep us posted

Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
EK10068S is the chassis # but I can't help with the engine # as its not the original as it seems to b a late model red 6from a HX/HZ maybe but that's ok coz I'm not restoring it to original thx regards v8ratrod
Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
Thanks for that.
We just like to keep what info we can to build up a picture of which cars are still around. Many have had new front ends (and therefore chassis numbers) and of course there are tons more with red motors.

Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
All good is there any info I can learn from the chassis number about manufacturing dates etc thx
Re: Id tags what do all the numbers mean
Not so much from the chassis number, but the body was probably built in the first month of production. To me, the noteworthy thing about the car is that it is one colour all over. That's a bit unusual for a special.V8ratrod wrote:All good is there any info I can learn from the chassis number about manufacturing dates etc thx
