Think I have posted this else where but I'd throw that fuel pressure regulator in the trash. They are known to leak (well the cheap ones anyway). Not in a great spot if it starts pissing fuel. I had one on my triples and never leaked. Had one on my duel webbers on the Ghia and it sprayed fuel after a month. Lucky I was tuning it at the time. Coughed up for a Holley https://www.sparesbox.com.au/part/holle ... EIQAvD_BwE and a fuel pressure gauge to dial it in. Mounted to the firewall. Will do the same with the SU's.

I can recommend these Italian regulators. Very easy and accurate adjustment and you get a filter as well. You can mount your gauge direclty on the outlet.

Have to agree with the others Clay,

Holden red pump is 7psi and the SU's like around 3psi, how will you ever tell what you have unless you run a gauge ?

I hate those regulators for that exact reason, you are turning the knob and guessing all the time.

Thanks for the advice guys. Reg I bought was more than twice the price of that Holley one Scott. It s not a cheapie and I’ll be pretty disappointed if it leaks.

Simple Greg. If it floods at the 3.5 psi setting I will dial it back.

Brett the one you put up looks good, but I’ve gone with what my local guys sell. They are usually on the money.

Anyone I spoke to running triple Webers or SUs using glass top pump and no reg, no issue. Time will tell but I won’t start marinating my hat at this stage.

Looks to be a Malpassi filter/reg. They have a reputation for quality.

Yes Harv, you are right, it's a Malpassi- Filter King. I have it set on 3psi for the Torrie tripples and 6psi for the WW twin barrel.

Looks like you stumped up for the legit one Clay - I got the cheap(ish) knock off.
Like the look of your one Brett - added bonus of a filter.
Personally would still run a gauge either temporarily or permanently to confirm pressure - and keep an extinguisher handy in the cabin. But hey that's just me - 25 years of aircooled ownership has made me paranoid.

Yes, I definitely have extinguisher on hand. Prolly would have gone for the Malpassi one but it wasn’t offered at the physical shop, which I much prefer to eBay. I will see how I go on the gauge.

Anyway the sun is out today, so I can give the engine bay a touch up where I removed the battery box.

I initially touched up the battery tray area with this any angle, any surface, satin chassis black, which of course looked terrible over the satin clinker grey, which is more matte than satin in any case.ImageThe ute engine bay is rough in any case, having been done originally in metalfix. Didn't want to go to any trouble just patch up prior to installing triples. This approach may end up backfiring on me due to compatibility issues with the chassis black.I suspect it may be enamel. I probably should have used the ordinary thinners rather than premium, for a better chance of the acrylic sitting on top. It looks like it is eating away at it. Chassis black reaction to wax and greaseremover probably should have been a clue, but then it does the same to metalfix. Though I used high fill acrylic primer surface over that before colour.Image
It will do.

Once we convince you to swap the bumpstick out with something with awful overlap, those SU trumpets may cure the rattlecan paint with some occasional warmth :)

No more fiddling with ute. Must focus on van. Except cruise control for the long drive west of course.

I have been thinking about fitting cruise control to my ute for ages but a kit these days is like $700 😳😳😳
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I know blacky. But when I add up what I've spent on the triple SUs it doesn't seem that much....
