Driver Side Door Handle Mount/Spring

Post by funkyscooter »

Need one of these if anyone has a spare one. Spring in mine has broken. I have drilled out the spots and pulled it apart, so if anyone has a good spring in a shagged one, then that would do as well. Thanks.

I am in the process of trying to get these springs remade, they are just another part that is becoming increasingly difficult to find .......

Interesting Blacky, for some reason I though these would be common. But I guess most people see the shiny things and save them, and let these go to scrap I guess.

I went digging today and found a couple of good FB/EK ones and a few EJ/EH ones - the EJ/EH ones look to have the same spring in them , will separate one of each and see.

The drivers ones wear out being used the most of course. Rear driver side are interchangeable, but not the passenger side as they are "handed". It is always the spring so the rest becomes junk.

Have you looked at the Chev sites in the US Blacky? I would put money on them being the same.

Hey Clay - had a quick look. 55-57 door release mechanism is a bit different. Look like they mount the other way up. Spring might be the same?. Don't know at this stage if I want to pay $28 USD plus shipping to find out ;)

Hmm. I wonder if later model holden would substitute. Might have to check Dudley's.

Got the hand held milling machine out - this is what I found
EH one looks to be similar but not the same , housing is well different - springs seem to be wound opposite direction , without having a set of EH doors I can’t say for sure as I am dependent on the labelling of the parts I have for info
