It’s sorting out fiddly things like that that gobble up so much time …..

Good work Taz,

My engineer wanted a heat shield around the Borgeson steering joint, initially I wrapped the header pipe with fibreglass but that caused it to rust.

It did pass however and at the moment i'm looking at making a more permamnent solution.

Ummm I think I have achieved something this afternoon. Another 3 hours tidying up the wiring and trial fitting things. At least when it goes together there will be no drilling or welding .

Thinking of going for the patina look on the body. I have the door a quick scuff and found the original paint under what the previous owner had applied 😊

Layed out the engine harness tonight and positioned more wiring inside the car. Will need adapters for the injector connections to the loom as the truck manifolds run a different injector to the standards LS1.

Yeah Blacky, starting on a cover for the engine soon that will incorporate the throttle body air intake into it as well. Maybe something similar to what is in the photo.

Fabbed up a battery box for the boot, not sure I will use the lid.

Also playing with the patina a paint look for the exterior. Paint will all need to come off as I do not know what it is like under it. Thoughts on the best way to get back to the original colour, tried acetone and thinners and the grey will not budge.

Also can get a cheap set of 17” cragars but front are 8” anyone know if they can fit with a custom back spacing?

I think 8” would be a battle , can you cut and reweld them ???

Rub away with 400 is my only suggestion.

Maybe if you can get them to clear the tie rod end with say zero offset. Even then they will rub if the car is low. I'm running 195 on two different 14" rims. Sampson's rub, custom steelies don't. They have about 5mm more offset positive.

Yeah thought if that but the barrels are a one piece I think but then again I could get a 17” barrel and use the centre in that.

17” steelies are going to cost me $900 and then I have to get them modified for the wheel track so I thought these could be an alternative. Still might work if I can get a 17”” barrel.

Okay, have bitten the bullet and started to remove the wiring so I can get it all set out out nicely. Mate was back briefly who is doing the wiring and discussed a way forward. I will cut what has to be cut for removal and he will add in plugs later as required.

This will hopefully mean I can finally get the car back on the rotisserie so I can run all the brake and fuel lines before painting underneath and inside the car.
