Unfinished project. EK Wagon (Special) Comes with VS Commodore V6, auto gearbox and diff, plus an LSD centre. Has a Castlemaine Rod Shop chassis kit, V6 Conversions kit with shortened early Commodore steering rack and engine loom. M.C Dean stainless fuel tank. The car has previously been sandblasted and most rust repairs have been carried out. Doors, bonnet and tailgate are all in good condition. Complete interior, minus some of the side trim in the boot area, and flooring. Original owners manual included, plus some magazines and business cards for referring from my planning stages of the build. I have had the car for far too many years of start-stop-start again restoration, and I am now without a garage big enough to work on it. I am 100% not happy about letting it go, but it is time to pass it on to someone who can give the car some love. Car is located at a workmates home, near Willowbank, while I have a garage full of all the parts with me at Sinnamon Park (QLD) $14,000

Re: EK Wagon V6 project for sale
I have to admit that I haven't really been watching the market too closely with respect to sale prices of partly finished cars. There have been some astronomical prices for some restored cars, that I guess people are willing to pay for. With that in mind, I haven't exactly had my door broken down with people rushing with offers for my car. Am I being unrealistic, or is it to do with the V6 side of it that people just aren't interested in? Interested in opinions, either here or pm
Re: EK Wagon V6 project for sale
Mr Wagonman,
Its a great shame you are not in a position to finish the car, It looks to be quite good overall.
The thing about selling a car in this condition is you have to find someone who wants that car and project. Of course that scares a lot of people away just because of the unknown and the expectation thats its going to be cheap.
You also have the unfortunate timing of a tough economy and price rises all round have put the brakes on spending somewhat especially with the toys.
For me selling a car is not about what the arm chair bandits think its worth but what the actual market dictates and this will always be the challenge to find.
Put the price too high and no bites, too low and you always question the amount and if it could have been more ?
My opinion is if you need to get rid of it then you will have to let the market decide or put your price on it and wait, thats all you can do.
Regards Greg

So many cars so little time!
Re: EK Wagon V6 project for sale
Greg pretty much summed it up it's not a good time to sell, finished driving cars are coming down which in turn pushes down projects and in my opinion makes projects even harder to sell and cheaper as anybody that does have money to spend can now most probably buy a driver, engine is nothing at this stage of the project as really at this stage anything can be put in it including going back to stock
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

Re: EK Wagon V6 project for sale
Agree that market sets the price, but for what it’s worth I reckon your price is reasonable. I can only reflect on what my wagon conversion cost, but if I wanted another project I would buy yours.

Re: EK Wagon V6 project for sale
Theres a limited market for a car at this stage, a lot of people dont have the knowledge, tools , space or time to build a car from a shell - I think its going to be awaiting game to find the right buyer , maybe try Ebay - even if it doesnt sell it will get it some good exposure and maybe a sale off Ebay - I sold my Monaro on Ebay by dealing with the bloke direct and then let the ad run ( was a buy it now thing not an auction ) so I didnt end up paying fees

When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Re: EK Wagon V6 project for sale
Hey Wagonman;
I've done 2 V6 conversions now and am trying to do an FB Wagon if it wasn't so far away that shell of yours would solve a lot of issues for me, but like the guys have said I think your price is probably fair knowing what I ended up putting into my Frankenstein EK Ute to get it completed and what I've already put into the wagon shell what with having it blasted and rust repair panels etc.
Good luck with the sale somebody is going to pick up a good project.
Regards
Neil

Good luck wagonman. Not always easy or possible but if you can be patient you will surely get somewhere near your asking price.

Thanks for all the replies! Totally agree with what everyone has said.
It also sucks that not only do I not have room for the car, but that I am paying a guy from work to rent a small patch in his shed to store it. The prices to put it into a storage facility are well beyond my budget, and my welcome is starting to run short with my workmate.. I hate selling it almost as much as I hate having to sell it!
