Thanks guys... not sure what you’re on about tho.. I thought Blacky seemed like a nice fella😜unsure Clay about the rotors but I was told it’s all HR now in the front, however I do have 3sets of calipers, another set of discs and a heap more broke bits in a box... I’m working my way thru it all slowly. Neil the mounts and firewall mod have all been set up for the red motor with SUs but Webber’s are the dream and I asked him if they fit. You like the Bluetooth sway bar Harv?? I have found the rods and hardware in a jar in a box👍

Couldn’t make the run today Blacky but I will get there and been meaning to sign up to the WA club- great weather for it hope ya’s all enjoyed🍻🍻 I’m going fishing so will check back in a coupla weeks, took some more pics for the convo.

Thanks guys, Craig melly

Finally found some time to take a good swing at a couple of things. think ive got the front end all sorted with new sway bar setup in, and all of the seatbelt attach points now mounted (with thanks again to Harv). Just gotta learn how to weld, then it will be into the mockup, engine ready to go in.

Hey All been a while, had a little bit of time to put some stuff together and find a lot of stuff missing (or bent and buckled). Worked out that they are SLR discs and believe the master to be torana also (note handcrafted adaptor plate), but when i put the bonnet on the R/H hinge spring fouls with the master cylinder when closed "angryy: Any of the brains trust come across a setup like this and/or a possible solution? As always advice much appreciated. As info I think the setup is SLR front brakes (see previous pics) boosted by VH40 which ive mounted remote under the guard and standard rear drums unboosted?

cheers Melly

In regards to the rust on the underside of the roof, I had to drill the spot welds on the cross members on one side of the roof so I could move the bows to one side to remove the black material and the rust under them. The plastic stripping disc were magic. Then applied phosphoric acid, epoxy primer, dynamat ,then repositioned the hood bows and re-weld. Job done

Bugger. Maybe you can offset it a bit. Reckon they are a good way to go, although I would use EJ HR rear brakes rather than original. Looks like after market HK and LC on MC. Standard replacement for the factory big nut MC back in the day….

You can lose the spring and fit a gas strut on the opposite side of the hinge, will see if
i can find the info you need regarding spring rates and travel

Thanks Gents, I did wonder about cleaning up under the crossmember Daz, good info cheers. What about a narrower diameter spring of similar strength Blacky- or is that what you were referring to re the specs? gas struts a handy alternative. If that MC was used commonly Clay how come mine is fouling? If I was to offset the MC then the whole pedal mech and pushrod would have to be altered too yeh? thanks guys

Used commonly to replace the big nut, original from HK on. It is fouling because it is a modification to the original single circuit master. Moving it over slightly shouldn’t cause binding of the pedal and Clovis mechanism. This is a common modification. I haven’t done it myself but plenty have, and I’m pretty sure they didn’t need to go replacing bonnet springs melly.
