It's on the border line where it almost needs a chute. It will get one, but may not need to use it. The discs will give me piece of mind for a while until I get used to how this thing works... agree that drums would have suited the era better.

Life behind bars.

A lot more cage than the simple rollover hoops of the 60’s. My noggin is probably not worth the steel price (too much armour, not enough brains) but needs to be IHRA compliant to run.

Warning stuff to sit on top of the rearmost rocker cover bolt (no gauge panel on a FED… no time to look down). Water temp for when I cook it in the staging lanes, and a big red flashing “get your boot out of it ya idiot” light.

I had a Hella trailer brake light with a big dollar sign on it as an oil pressure warning light in my speedway car .....
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

I had some bailing twine, but figured that was overkill

Tried to think of a neat way to secure it without the cable ties, but failed. Difficult to bolt through, as the gauge takes up most of the real estate in the cup. Could glue it, but that didn't feel right either. Maybe some stainless panduit straps.

Hi Harv,

If that's a new Smith's mech temp gauge, be aware that the soldering on the sender of these new gauges can be of a very poor quality and are prone to fail. After mine died, I took it to a mech gauge guru, an ex-QANTAS instruments engineer I've known for years, who re-machined and soldered the sender after filling it with anesthetist aether. Cheers.
