On to the all synchro conversion. This early HQ box seems good. There is a bit of lash in the clutch gear as well as first and second. The shift mechanism seems very good.ImageI do have to others I could look at.

Decided to go ahead with this box as it looks pretty good. The input shaft bearing appears to be secured to the shaft by a left hand threaded retainer that requires a flat 1 5/8" (from memory) spanner.

Stripped the box and main shaft but in the process dropped the mainshaft. Luckily I broke the fall....Image

When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Going by the clean cuts, the teeth seem alright on the main shaft gears.
That will sting for a bit.

Yer I’ll just add it to my current crop of malaises. Asthma, long Covid, alchohol and drug abuse, poor diet and general old age. Oh yeah, nearly forgot self abuse, heh, heh…

Thanks to Brett, another piece in the puzzle.ImageClutch slave adapter.

Waiting for a hktg workshop manual to turn up so I can work out how the synchro assembly's go back together. There are two different types of energising springs and in not sure which go in which hub as it isn't obvious. Closest thing I have to go on is a VH manual as the 4 speed is meant to be similar. One obvious difference apart from the extra gear is synchro on reverse. You know what that means. ImageImage
