Neil's FB Station Wagon

Post by FireKraka »

Time to update what I'm up to.
When I was near to completing my EK Ute Frankenstein I ask Blacky if he had anything in EK Mart that might be worth saving needless to say that an FB Station Wagon followed me home.
Haven't come up with a name yet but my wife keeps telling everyone it is hers

Now I'm not a masochist like Brett with his Project 2 and I don't think my wagon is maybe any worse than Frank was when I bought him home, mind you it does need the roof replaced :eh:    but at least Blacky was kind enough  for it came with one
I've been collecting parts for a while and finally decided to get it blasted so I could see everything that I needed to tackle :esurprised:

The wagon arrived home yesterday afternoon so as soon as I get a chance I will put it up on stands and get the diff etc. out and then up on my rotis and let the fun begin

That should keep you out of the pub !!!!

Didn't realise the rear floor was that swiss cheesy , I might have a donor section at home for that bit

Cheers Blacky, I'd be happy if you had a whole floor
Do you still have that fold down back seat that I asked you to hold onto for me, I know it was a while ago
Let me know what you have floor wise mate and I'll come up armed with the grinder

Good job Neil
Is it just the floors where there is rust? Do you have any comeback on the seller? 🤨

I tried to claim warranty but when I read the EK Mart warranty policy the fine print said 5 minutes or 5 metres down the driveway

Good to hear from you Neil. Do you really need to replace a the entire roof?! I thought so for my van but now thinking I may just patch.

Good on ya Neil. Just think, it's ALWAYS worse than it looks😁. It will be great to see another quality build from you so this will be a treat.
Looking forward to seeing it at the Nats with Project 2.

(... the world needs more V8 FB/EK wagons 8) ).

Thanks for the comments guys.
Clay the roof must have had something sitting on the top of it because it has a number of holes through it above the back seat so probably easier to change the roof I say that but have never done anything like that before :esurprised:

Harv not sure of the driveline yet, I've done two V6 conversions and I like the set-up, no firewall mods etc. and I have a couple of spare engines and gearboxes, I do have a HK 307 that I have stripped down and was going to rebuild with a TH700R4 Auto behind it but don't know if I want to go down that path I will have to have a good think.

Brett no way will it be at the nationals this year or for a few, the boss of finance wants me to go a bit slower than I did with Frank, pretty sure I have all the major parts just rust repair panels and time I suppose.

Hey Drew was that blood sweat and beers  I've been watching your wagon build and it gave me a kick in the pants to pull the finger out and get mine blasted so I could see the full extent of damage, love that wagon of yours it has come together really great only hope I can do mine justice.

I'll update as I go, first thing is to get the diff out this weekend and hopefully get it on the rotis as I have already said.

Sell the 307 to one of the Monaro guys, and it would probably pay for the entire driveline

Only one small love-tap with a BFH on the firewall to get the small block drivers side cylinder head to clear.

Cheers,
Harv

Good to see you’ve started on the wagon Neil (I like wagons) . You’re a glutton for punishment with all that starlight shining through.
