That is what safety glass does. It breaks in to granules young fella. Happened to me passing a car and trailer at 110 in my EK sedan just north of Pt Pirie about 30 years ago. Screen went opaque with a wee hole I could see through to pull the car over. It only cuts you little bit rather than severing arteries.

Yeah, like i said i have quite a few but all scratched !!!

I will source some new pieces down the track and let everyone know where I got them for future reference.
