Hey Bat when you say "all have offset pinion 2" as standard diff has" are you saying you have 2 different length axles? or have you moved the pinion off centre?

Okay thanks bat so generally stiffening and heavily dampening the rear suspension has helped to eliminate the problem. Of course this will also tend to reduce hookup/traction, relatively speaking and thereby further reduce the problem manifesting in hard launches. Also has the benefit of race car handling and reduction of bottom out due to significant lowering. It's just a pity not many of our roads are surfaced to race track quality. Some of the drawbacks I have experienced with firm suspension are loss of tractability in everyday driving situations and accelerated fatigue to sprung components including shaking the rear seal out of the transmission. There is always a compromise. It gets down to what you want out of the car I suppose.

Apologies for the dribble!

shorten the diff myself
swap short axle to long side then shorten long axle to length required
the standard early axle is about 2" offsett

Hi Bat
That's what I thought you were saying, same as mine pinion stays in the centre of the tunnel

ekdave1962 wrote:hi guys i did a similar think on my ek .. i find the under hard acceleration the rearend squats causing the tail shaft to hit floor .. it has almost sliced through so i need a fix ..
was thinking of coil over type shockers to prevent the squat ..
any suggestions of what shockers will fit or any other solutions ?'''

thanks David

Just a follow up guys sent car to peders // not much help wanted 1800 bucks to fix things they claimed was wrong .. took to a local shop that sorted problems for $200 ..
also rotated diff a few deg using spacer wedges and found shockers where dead .. pedders didnt even mention them .
so that answer was slight change of angle .. and good shockers

Good result Dave
Thanks for the update. Plenty of knowledgable mechanics out there if you can find them. I guess peddles are focussed on mass market solutions. Youngsters lowering their ss Utes and xr6s. They would have hit you up for the shocks once you were committed no doubt.

Hi, is there a chance those plans for shortening the diff are still available in a better format?
