HT HQ Brakes onto lc lj diff a how to

Post by EK JAY »

:D so got the ht hq bigger brakes onto the lc lj torana diff and cant see why it wouldn't work with a eh or hr diff's
and I guess it would work with fb ek diff's
first brought some hq backing plates and brake's complete and some ht drums from my wrecker mate
i had some old torana backing plates in the shed so cut one up for a template to use then bolted it to the hq plate
then used my die grinder and made the hole the correct size in the hq plate so it would fit over the bearing on the axel
as the hq plate hole is smaller in diameter then the torana ones
I then bolted it up to the torana diff and the axel has plenty of clearance from the wheel cylinder so this gives you bigger brakes
on the rear hq and ht brake shoes and parts are basically interchangeable so if your running ht front brakes as iam I now have matching front and rear
ht brakes and use a ht master cylinder as well complete matching brake system
now some pics

Reckon this needs to be a sticky .......

Did the torana handbrake cable fit straight into the ht drum brake. I have a ht diff drum to drum at home and a lj diff in the fb, thinking about this mod the same time as when my hg disk front brakes go on aswell.
