Whatever you do, do not show those photos to my youngest daughter (The Last One). That is pretty much what she is targeting for her first car  . Unlikely to fit down my driveway.

I need help to convince her that an EK van would be a better deal

Cheers,

The best way most fit the commodore tanks is to cut out the floor area, make a frame that goes around the shape of the top of the tank and yes used straps.
The VN VP tanks being steel are the best because you can move the filler necks which I've done on both of mine, buy cutting the floor the tank moves up and doesn't hang low.
I can post some photos if anybody interested.

Hey Clay
Yeh maybe a space saver but my wood tray does not lift up easily, each of the stainless strips is screwed down and into the cross braces underneath I think there are 36 screws in all so that wont be happening anytime soon mate  bottle of blow up in the tool bag anything else I'm up shit creek without the proverbial paddle

I am more worried about running out of fuel now anyway. You certainly save some weight deleting spare, jack, brace etc. Not too often we get a flat now days with decent tubeless tyres. Then there are the plug kits, and 12V compressors are small and light.

I can honestly say I have no issues having the false floor just sitting in the recess with rubber seal underneath so it can't really rattle. I was glad of it when I had to change my fuel tank sender in the top of the tank yesterday.

With the van I have a wagon tank, and need to cut the filler neck to make it fit. I was thinking how I could incorporate some extra tank capacity in the spare wheel well next to the spare. Would also act as an anti blow back chamber, which I could do with.
