Rear Window

Post by EK283 »

Hi Guys,

After wasting a couple of weekends trying to polish out scratches I have cracked it mentally so am looking for a rear window that is scratch free.

I don't believe they are available new so if anyone has one with no scratches please let me know.

Thanks Greg

No Worries Bill,

Thanks for that I may have to visit you again.

Just for everyone's info there is only 2 or 3 clear front glass in Australia, none in Sydney ! You can still get the banded one.

There is no rear glass for a sedan available at all. Nobody in Australia is making glass because the Chinese dropped the price so much that all our companies who manufactured here are gone, and from what I can gather there will be none in the near future.

Greg,

I have a sedan rear window, currently surplus to requirements. You're welcome to it.
And I'm on the North Shore too.

Gee I'm tempted to order a new one in case. Even though I've got a spare for each car. I sold my only sedan rear recently. Guy took a full sedan set minus q/vs.

Yes we have !

The Chinese company dropped the prices so much that the Aussie companies just couldn't compete. Fast forward a couple of years and the prices have gone up double. The guy I talked to said he bought all the glass in Australia and has since sold it all off. ( clear glass windshield )
The price guide for the next batch he is telling me will be up towards the $700 mark if he decides to order them.

What more can i say !!!!!

There is a bloke on Facebook making rear ute glass plus a lot of Torana/EH stuff etc, a few months back he was chasing a rear screen for an FB/donor car (EK)  as he is looking to start making them plus FE/FC rear glass, he said the cost would be around the $700 mark.

Thanks for that.

This is the guy that has given me all the above info, Not looking good for new glass at the moment unless I find a company who has one stashed.

Called in on old mate Dud on my way home from Port Augusta. He has plenty of good glass still, including a full wagon set.Image
