When you say wheel flange to wheel flange. Exactly what do you mean?

I'm having trouble with tyre touching the guards. Seeing how they are 185's was thinking my rig may have had a diff change at some stage..

Flange to flange refers to what the backing plates mount to on the diff. Or basically either end of the diff housing if it was bare.

I think the dimensions above are wheel flange to wheel flange which is the surface the inside of the rim sits on a complete rear axle assembly
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Good point Blacky! I may have misinterpreted them.

Well just measured mine outside of drum to outside drum is 1425mm so very close to the eK measurements of 1420 so looks like my issue is the rims I have. It's proving hard to track down a set of rims... These ones came from a Ej Wagon but are 6 in rims. But after some reseRch looks like I have one hr rim with the whole. So back to square one.

Just pulled the EH rear out of my EK sedan. This originally came from an EH wagon but I believe the EJ EH were all the same drum to drum.

Here are some photos next to a stock EK axle. The widths are exactly the same.

I hope this helps someone.

Just adding some info here as old mate John had me source him a UC Torana diff to chuck under one of his FBs. Image
It is the 8 bolt Salisbury 3:08 ratio. Big drum brakes which protrude around 8mm past the wheel boss.

Drum to drum 1460
Face to face 1444mm

Only 24mm wider than stock FB EK. I can kind of see why he wants to go this way but I don’t believe they are any stronger than a banjo.
