Old Tailem Town

Post by Wrongway Roger »

Hi,
The club is cruising up to the Old Tailem Town Pioneer Village on the 25th August.
Meeting at 9.30 the truck bay at the start of the South Eastern Freeway.
Leaving at 10.00 am

BYO picnic lunch with the club providing the soft drinks.

Cheers
Roger

A great day with a go turn out of members and their cars.
I have driven place Old Tailem Town a heap of times and never thought about having a look. My bad as it was a real step back in time.
There was heaps to see and the old fella who owns it is more than happy to have a chat.

Only a couple of the normal cruise drama's like running out of fuel. Apparently a dodgie fuel gauge ???
Then on the drive back the gear linkages in my wagon detached from the gear box. Quick fix on the side of the road and good to go.

I noticed Old Tailem Town on the way east out of Murray Bridge. The "branding" looked awfully similar to Old Sydney Town. Are the two connected in any way? But you wouldn't have re-enactments of convicts being flogged at Old Tailem Town, because SA was never a penal settlement, if I remember right?
