Best Alternator

Post by EffBee »

Hi All,

Just doing some research into the Generator to Alternator conversion and was interested to see what type of Alternator's people are using, volts amps etc. I will be running a standard electrical system and looking for something that will bolt straight in with the Sonic Bracket and minimal wiring changes.

Cheers

I'd try a Lucas 17AC alternator - the same type as Minis had (have). You can get them from the people who sell Mini parts for about $170 new. They have two lower mounting brackets, like generators do, and would be a neater installation on a grey motor than the Bosch alternators. You wouldn't need the adaptor bracket, for example.
