Dashboard trims

Post by EK283 »

Team,

Any hints on cleaning / polishing the aluminium dash trims, the ones on a special between the clinker grey and the body colour.

Thanks Greg

I used a little Autosol and a toothbrush then polished with a soft cloth - came up really well

they are aluminium so pretty delicate so be gentle - I tried a dremel with a polish pad on the back as a test and didn't like the result so gently by hand would be my advice.

Toothbrush and polish, hold the trims down onto a teatowel on a flat surface.

Be wary, some of those trims (can't remember which... FB? EK?) have painted stars, not engraved. The painted stars polish off. Don't ask how I know

Metho and cotton wool or t shirt rag. Very carefully. Maybe try white spirits but I would test first. Otherwise polish off the start pattern altogether.

Thanks Guys,

I will go forth prepared with this great knowledge, mine are not painted so should be ok.

Whilst on the subject I suppose the compliance plate is the same deal, looks like easy does it.

I used degreaser and scotchbrite followed by Brasso or autosol on the plate. The star pattern looks to be some sort of anodising type coating. If it is already removed you could use brasso or polish.
