Outrigger Insulator

Post by 59wagon »

Hi,
I need to replace my outrigger insulator as it’s now more crumbly than rubbery.

Image

It’s a two piece unit and the one sold by Rares is a one piece.

Anyone know if this is ok for my stock FB?

Cheers,

John

Hi John,

I'm very confident your 2 piece would have started out as a 1 piece early in its career.
That will fit fine.

I've found the same. Some were two piece.

I thought that might be the case Greg, but the one shown in the parts manual showed an upper and lower insulator.

I’ve just looked a bit further and found there’s also a one piece for FE-EK, though no picture shown.

So as you say, it’ll be fine. Thanks

John

It just goes to show that all is not what it seems !

I have had both FB and EK cars and both were 1 piece. I suppose as the FB was being developed into the more refined and superior EK Holden went with the one piece.

Look out here it comes !!!!!!

Au contraire my good man , the General was cutting costs and found it was cheaper to make a single piece figuring the EK was never going to match the style and class of its predecessor
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.
