Engine number query

Post by Jason »

Howdy Groovers,

I was pulling some bits off my spare engine to help rebuild my main engine and noticed the weird engine number. I'm guessing the high number "174152" being without prefix of 'B' or 'L' means that it is a 132 grey out of an FJ. It is on quite an angle so I'm not sure if the assembler was pissed or it's a number that has been ground and replaced, the 948X markings perpendicular main number has got me a bit stumped. The motor came out of and FB, Perth built.

Cheers

Can someone please post a list of the prefix numbers please, I know that J indicates a EJ block but what about L etc. Thanks.
PS Still looking for a Wagon!

the search function is your friend - the engine number thing has been discussed many times, have a surf around and you will find everything you need to know mate
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.
