By see you there, I mean at the park. It's a nice scenic cruise through the hills from my place. Look forward to catching up this Saturday.

Thanks everyone for a great day. It was good to finally meet a few faces! The day went well with just a few minor hiccups......no BBQ plates, someone moved Emerald Lake to Cardinia Reservoir and renamed it (thanks Trev!  ), and my little BBQ blowing the gas hose clean off. Other than that it was a top day. Looking forward to the next meet. Thanks all.

It's got vacuum where it shouldn't (thats what I got out of what craig explained to me).
Traced to the auto kick down vacuum working all the time and stuffing up the carb.

Trans vacuum modulator has hole in diaphragm as trans is very late in up shifts and trans is loosing oil (being burnt in engine).
Float level was a little low but still suspect some blockages in progression circuit in carby.
I've had a thought about the ported vacuum advance and I'm sure now you may have the wrong carby on the engine. I remember sometime ago (a long time!) that some Stromberg automatic trans carbies had the ported vacuum hole referenced slightly higher than a manual trans setup. This allowed for the slight increase in throttle opening that the auto engine would have when sitting idling in Drive. It maybe that you have a normal manual carb which is giving you vacuum signal for ignition advance too early and your base ignition timing is set too low (retarded) to compensate. Base timing should always be set with the vacuum advance disconnected and the hose plugged in conjunction with the correct idle speed to ensure the distributor flyweights are fully retracted. Harv maybe able to help out with info on this re the Stromberg Guide and which ones are correct for the auto trans set up.

All I got was Trev's running retarded...

Modulator is an easy fix, finding an auto Carby might be a bit more challenging.

Me retarded? What gave that away??
I have another carb here, I'll pull the other cab off and compare.
And change the modulator.
