It won't start

Post by MattO »

Ok a couple of months ago I tried to jump start my FB it did not start and from memory there could have been a loud click from under the hood.

I've just installed a new battery and this is where the problem starts.

So I jump in the car the interior light is on I turn the ignition to on and the gen light comes on. As soon as I turn the key to start I loose all power, the same happens if I turn the headlights on. After about 10 seconds the interior light comes back on.

Any ideas?

Check you have 12V down to the starter solenoid when the key is turned (2-man job). If you do, and there is no "click", try encouraging the starter solenoid with a few (gentle) taps with a hammer.

Check your negative wires , make sure they are tight and clean , and make sure the block to battery lead is sweet.

I just got weirded out about going around nude :D

EK-selent I think MattO's problem is earth related, have you looked at all leads and connections? Also the starter might be sticking - thus sucking the life out of the battery
