Original EK radio modified anyone done it?

Post by fxfjholden.com »

Hi all,

I have the following radio, I am going to put in the EK sedan. This pic is taken from one of Sunnytims posts.

I was wondering if anyone has had this type of radio modified etc, for things like FM band, USB port etc. I don't mind if I have to hide anything that can be added to this radio.

I want to keep the look to be authentic. If anyone has had any work done can you advise what and who did it etc.

Thanks

Jason

Beersy has some jigger in his glovebox that converts it to play FM - not too sure what it is though ......

I have just emailed this mob in the USA.

I know of Nostalgic Wireless in Melbourne, so I will see what both these companies have to offer.

Does anyone know what the size of the original speaker in the dash is?

Thanks

Jason

about a 9x 5 or whatever they are , I bought a pair of 5" ones and made a bracket to mount them to the original speaker mounts

I had my radio (one that didn't work) modified by an electrican at work.
He added a wire coming from it that powered up when I switched it on.
That wire feeds the modern stereo I have hidden in the glovebox.

Now i can switch on the old unit (which lights up) and it turns on the CD/Ipod player.

It may not be the option you are looking for, but its simple, and works well.

Cheers
Jeff
