Position of seat belt plates

Post by FireKraka »

Hi Guys
I need some info on the easiest way to put the seat belt strengthening plates into the B pillar of my Ute, can I drop both the top and bottom plates down from the top of the pillar and then plug weld or do I have to cut into the side of the pillar?

Also I would appreciate a measurement on where the top plate goes, measurement from the floor to the bolt hole?

Any help would be great don't really want to cut into the pillars if I can get away with it
Regards

Hi Neil, I dropped my plates in from the top then plug welded them . I recall that it’s very difficult to get the bottom plates past the door catch attachment point.
I ended up putting the bottom plate on the wall behind the seat where you have access to the rear tray under the floorboards.

When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

Thanks Guys
Just sent and email to the engineer and he is happy if I put the reels were EKV8 suggests which I think is also the way to go or I'll go under the parcel shelf as you suggest Paul.

Thanks Blacky you always come through mate that photo give me a pretty good Idea of were I need to be.
