Just thought id share a pic i took a while ago of this old rig.

30 second Exposure with a sparkler!


Has won me a few competitions!

Very cool photo. That's what it looks like when I weld... sparks going everywhere, and no weld being made :oops: :lol: .

Out of cusiosity, how do you take a photo like that? I get the "hold the camera open for 30 seconds and wave a sparkler around" bit, but why isn't there a blurry image of a guy holding a sparkler across all the car?

Thanks for the comments!

As for why you don't see me in the pic is because i was wearing black top to toe, and had my back to the camera most of the time and i move quickly!
Whilst i was doing the left roof (in the right side of the frame) some light from the sparkler lit up my face and left a few smudgy ghost marks which i fixed up in photoshop.

There is one spot where my body got between the sparkler and the camera so it has a break in the trails.

That looks great! I've been wanting to try the same light graffiti approach for a while and haven't got around to it, this gives me more motivation :wink: I've only got a 15 sec exposure. Thanks for sharing!
