FB-EK Towing Capacity

Post by leinamoon »

Possibly a lot of variables, but does any one know the towing capacity of EK's?
Additionally, i have a 186 red nestled inside of my special.
Just had a tow bar put on however need to find a tongue to complete.
Am looking at getting a smaller camper/caravan to travel some...
thanks..

I think if the weight of the van is over 750kg it has to have brakes.
Don't know about a weight limit :? .

As Trev says - if the caravan exceeds 750kg, it must be equipped with brakes.
I also read somewhere that a caravan should be limited to 1.5 x vehicle weight (which would mean a van limit of approx 1500kg) - but that probably applies for a modern car.

Hey, thanks guys!
Had the tongue welded on, they rated the tow bar itself to 1000kg.
Think I had it on for about a week, was also running in a reconditioned engine when sleeping arse at the wheel collided head on with me!
My beautiful EK of 20 yrs is now RIP!
