Melbourne Anzac Day Parade

Post by Sarah »

Hello All

I'm looking for 6 nice FBs or EKs to take part/volunteer in this year's Melbourne RSL Anzac day parade (Friday 25th of April). The role requires driving diggers on their big day in the parade as they are unable to walk from The Arts Center to The Shrine. This is the third year I will be taking part in the parade. It's a lovely morning and a way to say thank you to those who fought for our country. This is a run down of what happens.

-Meet at a pre-appointed destination in town (“ City of Melbourne “ all areas pass is provided) at 7.30am for a briefing.
-You are guided to a pick-up point where you collect one to a few passengers and drive them in the parade in their regiment.
-You may be asked to go back to the start and drive once more or you may be directed to go home.
-You're normally done by around 11am.

An email is sent to all driving in the parade with full details.

Please help out.

Thanks
Sarah

Bugger, Sarah! - I'd really like to be in on this... but it's my daughter's wedding the following day and I'll be up to my ears (and more) in wedding rituals and procedures....

If you are doing this on a yearly basis - I'd love to be re-invited in 2015... big 100th year for ANZACS... not many/none left of WW1 to cart around in my old bus, I expect. they'd have been blasted well 65ish when my old bus was made....

Well done and thank you for driving the diggers, I know that it would make their day. (The vintage car club here do it, and it certainly makes their day). Well done

Hi,
I would love to drive some old diggers to the shrine in my EK, but i will be marching with my old unit. It means so much, also for my kids.
Might see you there...
Regards

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank Sarah and members who gratefully supplied their cars to transport the old diggers on the parade in Melbourne. As a returned soldier and a FB nut it gave me great pride and emotion and made my day when I saw the cars and the old boys enjoying the ride. It means a lot to us all that people such as yourselves support us in the way you do. Seeing this shows us all that the Australian spirit is alive and well. Thank you all so much.

Just seeing the pics of the fb-ek's who's owners took the time to drive our diggers in the ANZAC parade makes me feel really proud to be an Aussie, and once again a big thank you to you all for taking the time. Unfortunately we do not get VIC ABC so was unable to view it.
kind regards
Lesley and Roger
